Be Alert!
We wanted to give you a heads-up about a scam currently targeting digital asset holders. Fraudulent letters are being sent that appear to come from the IRS or U.S. Department of the Treasury insisting you enroll in a “Digital Asset Compliance Portal” (DACP).
The letter may include a QR code that directs you to a fake IRS website. It may appear to come from the U.S. Department of the Treasury or the IRS in Austin, Texas, and may include a notice number such as CP14-432RA. While the details may vary, the goal is the same: to collect your personal or financial information.
This is a scam. The “Digital Asset Compliance Portal” does not exist.
Do not engage in any way with such a letter.
